Subscribers

The subscriber count shows the total number of Telegram accounts currently following a channel. Telagon updates this metric regularly and tracks changes over time — daily, weekly, and monthly deltas show whether a channel is growing or losing audience.

Why it matters

Subscriber count is the most visible metric but also the most misleading on its own. It doesn't distinguish between active readers and dead accounts. Always combine it with engagement metrics (ERR, ER) and growth patterns. A channel with 50K active subscribers can outperform one with 500K mostly inactive ones.

How to use it

Look at subscriber count trends rather than the absolute number. Steady organic growth of 1-3% per week is healthier than sudden spikes (which often indicate paid promotion or bot additions). Check the subscriber growth chart for patterns.

Example

A tech channel has 80,000 subscribers. It grew by +2,100 this week and +8,500 this month. The steady growth pattern with consistent daily adds suggests organic audience building.
