Silent Members

Silent members are subscribers who haven't reacted, commented, or forwarded any content within the measured period. They may still read posts but show no visible engagement signals. Telagon tracks the silent-to-active ratio as a channel health indicator.

Why it matters

A high silent member ratio may indicate bot subscribers, dead accounts, or content that doesn't encourage interaction. While some silent readers are genuinely passive consumers, an abnormally high percentage (above 95%) warrants investigation into audience quality.

How to use it

Compare the silent ratio with ERR. If ERR is healthy (above 1%) but the silent ratio is high, the channel likely has a small but very engaged core audience. If both are poor, the audience quality may be genuinely low.

Example

A channel with 100K subscribers has 92% silent members. However, the 8,000 active users generate an ERR of 4%, indicating a strong engaged core β€” the silent majority are likely organic but passive.
