Mentions

Mentions track how often other Telegram channels reference a specific channel — either through direct @username mentions, forwarded messages, or quoted content. Telagon counts both the total mentions and the number of unique channels making those mentions.

Why it matters

Mentions are a direct measure of ecosystem influence. More mentions from diverse sources means the channel is widely recognized as a reference. Unlike subscribers, mentions can't be bought — they represent genuine recognition from channel operators.

How to use it

Focus on unique channel count rather than total mentions. A channel mentioned by 500 different sources has broader influence than one mentioned 500 times by the same 10 channels. Track mention trends to see if influence is growing or declining.

Example

A news channel is mentioned by 280 unique channels in a month, with 950 total mentions. The high unique-to-total ratio shows broad recognition across the ecosystem, not just a few repeat referrers.
