Citation Index

The Citation Index measures a channel's influence within the Telegram ecosystem by counting how many times other channels mention, quote, or forward its content. It combines the number of unique channels that reference it and the total number of mentions.

Why it matters

A high Citation Index means other channel owners consider this source authoritative enough to share. It's the Telegram equivalent of backlinks in SEO — organic endorsements from peers. Channels with a high citation index tend to be primary sources of information in their niche.

How to use it

Check the citation breakdown: unique channels matter more than total mentions. A channel cited by 200 different sources is more influential than one mentioned 200 times by the same 3 channels. Use it to find niche thought leaders.

Example

A crypto news channel is mentioned by 350 unique channels with a total of 1,200 mentions. Its Citation Index reflects both breadth (350 sources) and depth (1,200 total references).
