Channel Age

Channel Age shows how long a Telegram channel has existed since its creation date. Telagon displays this as years and months along with the exact creation date.

Why it matters

Channel age provides context for all other metrics. A 3-month-old channel with 100K subscribers likely used aggressive promotion. A 5-year-old channel with the same count built its audience organically over time. Older channels with consistent growth are generally more trustworthy and stable.

How to use it

Combine channel age with subscriber count to estimate average growth rate. Divide current subscribers by months active for a rough monthly acquisition rate. Compare this with recent growth — accelerating growth is more interesting than decelerating.

Example

A news channel is 4 years and 2 months old with 250K subscribers. That's roughly 5,000 subscribers per month on average. Current monthly growth is +8,000, showing accelerating momentum.
